Triple Rock

I really need to start going somewhere else besides Triple Rock, seems like I've been going there too often.

My friends and I headed to Triple Rock for some Monkey Head and dinner. I already ate a little so I didn't feel like eating a big burger. I ordered an ale dog, a hot dog that's steamed in beer and served with relish, tomatoes and tortilla chips. It was nothing special, just a hot dog. I didn't taste the beer, but it was enough food to complement my Monkey Head.

Check out my other Triple Rock posts.

Triple Rock Burger

My friends and I went over to Triple Rock Brewery for some nice, juicy burgers. I ordered the rock climber that came with Swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms - quite satisfying.

We weren't there on a Thursday, so we didn't get to drink the special brew, Monkey Head. Plus, many of their other brews were sold out. We ended up Pinnacle Pale Ale and Red Rock Ale. The first one was mediocre, while the Red Rock had a bitter finish that I didn't like.

Triple Rock is alright and I enjoy their outdoor (upstairs) seating. Unfortunately, they seem to always be out of their brews.

The Go-to Place: Triple Rock

I really like Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley because of its ambiance. It's old world and bustling with noise of numerous conversations surrounding you. But, more importantly, their house brewed beer is delicious. With names like Bug Juice, Tree Frog, Dragon's Milk and Punched in the Eye, there's something for everyone.

On Thursdays, and only Thursdays, they serve Monkey Head Arboreal Ale that comes in a large 1 litter bottle. It's a malty, amber ale and goes so well with their greasy food. It's served with small glasses and you're sure to get a quick buzz (8% alcohol) after a few glasses.

I originally planned to get a burger (beer's best friend!), but I went the "healthy" route with a chicken breast sandwich and salad instead of fries [ it was tough to turn down fries :P ]. The sandwich was smothered in barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese, definitely not healthy, but it went well with the Monkey Head. I hear their reuben's really good and of course, their burgers too.

Triple Rock's a fun place to enjoy good beer and hang out with your friends. There's also seating upstairs on their roof that's perfect for a bright, sunny day. But, it's also cute during the night with small lights everywhere. One downside of Triple Rock is getting a table. Not only are there always a lot of people, but there's no host and you're on your own when finding a table. You end up hovering around tables that are almost leaving and it's a little awkward, so be sure to go with someone that's a little aggressive or you'll never get a table. ;)
