Lasagna Love

Jason and I picked up his parents from the airport and stopped by Pasta Primavera in Walnut Creek for dinner. I was craving for some lasagna and this one hit the spot.

Bubbling hot with layers of pasta, ground beef, red sauce and cheese. Delicious.

Did I ever tell you the first time I had lasagna was in Ireland? It was the best. OK, OK, how can I say it's the best when it was only my first time and had nothing to compare? Seriously, thinking back, the first bite was amazing and I've never forgotten it - even 15+ years later. If only I had the recipe...

The Go-to Place: Pasta Primavera

My boyfriend's parents invited my family and I to Pasta Primavera in Walnut Creek for dinner on Sunday. I love this casual place and wish it was in SF. We seem to always end up there whenever we're in the East Bay. :)

Everything at the restaurant is so good, especially the warm bread with tomato, olive oil dipping sauce (YUM!). I would have listed the tiramisu, but they've recently changed their recipe so it's unfortunately not as great as it used to be. :T

My boyfriend always orders the pesto Gorgonzola. It's a large portion of penne pasta and chicken with sun-dried tomatoes drenched in a savory, nutty pesto Gorgonzola sauce. I ordered the seafood linguine pasta in marinara sauce with an abundance of seafood - scallops, shrimp, mussels and calamari. There were big chunks of tomatoes in the sauce that made the dish extra hearty.

The best part of Pasta Primavera is you always have leftovers. They give you plenty, enough for two meals. So, last night, I ate my leftovers for dinner and it was just as good, maybe even better.

The price is excellent too! My dish was $16.95 with a complimentary soup or salad. Delicious food, good service, big portions and affordable. You'd never get all of these factors in one place in SF.

BDay Dinner with the Adults

Sunday birthday dinner (this year's bday seems like a never ending celebration! woo hoo!) was with my parents, boyfriend's parents and my aunt and uncle. Unfortunately, my boyfriend wasn't there to celebrate because of the stomach flu. He would have been better if we had not gone to Cha Cha Cha the previous night. Oops. :X

I was out in the East Bay and we chose Pasta Primavera in Walnut Creek. I really enjoy this restaurant. It's definitely one of my favorites in the East Bay. It's affordable (about $13/dish), the bread comes warm with this AMAZING sun dried tomato dipping sauce, ambiance is low key and most importantly, everything I've had there is delicious.

This time, I ordered the seafood pasta that was filled with shrimp, mussels and scallops in a rich, tomato sauce. I usually get a chicken dish that's much "lighter," but I wanted some seafood. My boyfriend, if he had been there would have ordered the Pesto Gorgonzola with chicken. It's soooooo good....very rich......but absolutely delicious. I used to order it all the time but trying to be healthier now. ;) That dish really is amazing. You might be turned off that Gorgonzola's a blue cheese (I know I am!), but it's not strong at all and very creamy.

After an enjoyable meal, we went to my boyfriend's parents' house to eat cake. It was funny being with his parents without him being there.....either way, they're awesome.

My thoughtful aunt and uncle bought me this delicious sponge cake that was layered with mango mousse and topped with fresh fruit. It was soft, spongy, creamy, fruity, everything I'd want in a cake. :) Thank you!
