Sonic

Full circle of fast food on this camping trip. Hey, I never said it was a healthy trip. ;)

Sonic positions itself as "America's Drive-In" and it's fun to watch the employees skate to your car with your order. It's also one of those places where I often see their mouth watering and weird commercials, but the nearest one is nowhere close. Whenever we go on road trips, we try to stop at Sonic for something different.

This was my second or third time at Sonic and maybe my last. The food is really not all that great, but they have a wide variety of drinks - smoothies, chillers (ice with juice), shakes and even floats.

Their burgers suck so I knew I didn't want a burger. I went a slightly safer route by ordering a long Coney Island chili cheese dog. The hot dog was forgettable, nothing special, just a regular hot dog. Jason and I also shared popcorn chicken (too dry) and tater tots (these I do like).

It was crazy hot so I ordered an Oreo Sonic Blast (Oreo shake). The shake was thick and required a spoon, just the way I like it, but I would have much preferred McDonald's McFlurry (soooo good at such a great price). Jason got a mocha frozen coffee, which was good at first sip but quickly got way too sweet.

After this trip to Sonic, there's really no reason for me to go back. I'd much rather make another stop at In N Out. :)

In N Out!

I went on a camping trip a couple of weeks ago, so I have a whole slew of camping photos coming up.

First up, In N Out. It's been a tradition for us to make our first pit stop at In N Out for dinner. Jason and I always get the same thing. He orders a double double (burger with two slices of cheese and patties) meal while I get my cheeseburger, animal style (extra sauce with grilled onions).

I never get sick of In N Out. So satisfying. And the best thing about it? Fresh ingredients, 100% beef with no fillers or preservatives. "Healthy" fast food. :)

The Go-to Place: In N Out

In N Out....by far one of my favorite and "healthiest" fast food chains. There's only one in SF by Fisherman's Wharf and it's very rare that I go over there. If it was in downtown, I'd be at In N Out at least once a week! OK, maybe not that often, but a lot! :)

When my friends and I were going to San Jose to see Atama play last Friday, we stopped by In N Out. Originally, they wanted to go to Panda Express (yuck!), but I luckily got my way. tee hee hee.

I ordered an animal style cheeseburger, meaning it comes with grilled onions, pickles and extra animal sauce (their secret thousand island-like sauce). The fries were good, but I like my fries crispy on the outside, tender inside.

I never feel like I'm eating mystery meat or anything artificial at In N Out because they use real beef, fresh ingredients and their burgers are cooked to order. So good. I love it.

T to the B

Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to Taco Bell to grab a quick lunch. He wanted to try the Volcano Taco (hah! Advertising persuasion at its finest!) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The shell (although broken in half) was actually pretty hot and of course, he ordered his favorite, Mexican pizza.

I got the 3 supreme taco meal with a drink. Tacos just the way I like them... :)

Sigh, I really got to get away from the fast food. But it's so hard! I know it's not healthy, high in sodium and fat, doesn't contain real meat or fresh ingredients, but something about Taco Bell....hmm...and especially if you're in a rush like we were.... :P

I feel so guilty writing about this. :X I should be healthier!

Yo Quiero Taco Bell.

OK. Seriously, I do eat a good amount of fast food. :X

One of my friends was talking about Taco Bell and somehow that triggered in my mind, "Yo quiero Taco Bell!"

Taco Bells in SF are very limited. The only one I know is an express near my work on Market x Drumm. I usually get the same stuff at TB - Nachos Bell Grande, Taco Supreme or Mexican Pizza (although this is kind of rare...more of my BF's go-to).

Loving Nachos Bell Grande, HAVE to get that one by the way, can't be cheap and get the regular nachos! :P They used to have scallions on top, but they don't have it anymore. I think the removed it after the whole onion contamination scare. Who knows. I wish they kept it though, it gives the meal more color. :)

I have a funny relationship with cheese. I'm not a fan of it (it's probably the whole Asian/lactose intolerant thing that I have so I rarely eat it). I usually request dishes without it, but when it comes to nachos, I'm all over it. But it can't be smothered smothered. I like just the right amount of chip and cheese ratio. Definitely not too much.

Funny thing was, SOMEONE else was wanting TB. :) When I was in the elevator, some guy kept eyeing my TB bag. I didn't think much of it, but when we got off on the same floor, he excitedly asked me where the nearest TB was. The next day, I saw him eating some TB. :)

Full Circle...of Fast Food.

Funny how I mentioned I rarely eat fast food and then I end up posting about five entries on it. This blog is def a good way for me to track what I eat! I can't say I "rarely" eat fast food anymore! ;)

I started my Vegas trip with BK Chicken Sandwich and I'm ending it with a Pizza Hut's Personal Pepperoni Pizza. Hella good I might add. Hahaha.

Pizza Hut is reminiscent of middle school when it was "cool" to buy a personal pizza. Although this one was much thicker than the middle school ones, its extra doughy-ness added to its greatness. Smothered in heart clogging oil? Check. Another layer of greatness.

I felt like such a pig since my bf wasn't even hungry and I was stuffing my face with it. I blame Excalibur's buffet. I didn't eat much! :P

My meals in Vegas were a wide range of things, but by far, my favorite would have to be....that chopped salad from Wolfgang Puck's Bar and Grill. I was so anti Wolfgang in Vegas, but he shut me up, for sure. Least? Obviously, Excalibur's buffet. :X

And drinks...? Margaritaville's margaritas. Need to get that mix! Least favorite drink? Shots of Patron. Ouch.

Fast Food Round 2.....?!

Didn't I just say I rarely eat fast food? :P

First meal in Vegas....McDonald's.

We were at Club Moon (cool place, btw) at the Palms, having a good time partying and then all of a sudden felt a weird pang in my stomach. I swear it wasn't a hunger pang! Those feel a lot different. :P We left the club and went downstairs searching for food and stumbled upon McDonald's. My boyfriend, knowing that I like to eat healthy (so thoughtful. :)), ordered me a premium grilled chicken sandwich.

Surprisingly, pretty good. Don't remember too much of it, but it did taste like real chicken and flavorful. Of course it's filled with flavor, silly Maggie. It's injected with them! Good, big piece of ROMAINE lettuce too, not that unnutritious piece of iceberg from BK. :P Anyways, I do remember it being good...or that could have been the "hunger" or drunk-ness talking.

It definitely made my weird pain go away. hahah. Maybe it was a hunger pain...

Side note: I just got back so a lot of catching up on posting! :X

Fast Food

I rarely eat fast food. I try not to, at least.

My boyfriend and I were heading to Las Vegas last Thursday night and we needed to eat something before we hopped onto the plane. We figured we'd eat in the airport so it wouldn't cut into our "partying time" in Vegas (we were to land in Vegas from SFO at around 10pm).

Food choices, let alone, healthy, are slim at SFO. Well, it's not too bad, but Phoenix's airport has an amazing variety of choices. I'm sure a lot of people will debate that SFO has some pretty good choices, but hey, our gate in terminal 2 definitely didn't have many.

Right across from our boarding gate was Burger King. Ahhh. Burger King. Haven't had it in years and whenever I think of BK, I often think of their crisp fries and chicken sandwiches. Remember when they had the international chicken sandwiches? They were filled with different sauces and cheeses to represent different countries. Guess that wasn't a hit. :P

I ordered a chicken sandwich, probably one of the most unhealthy items on the dish since it's fried and is filled with mayo. Hey, at that minute, I didn't care since BK means chicken sandwiches. As you can see from the photo, not the best presentation (where's the lettuce on the right? hehe), but it was good.

While I took my first bite of the warm sandwich, my BF told me an interesting fact. The chicken sandwich I was gobbling up was filled with trans fat. Oops. I've been a big contender for banning trans fat and here I was, stuffing my face with it. I should have known this already since most fast food restaurants use trans fat to keep their food "fresh."

Oh well, just a once in awhile thing...plus, what else could I have gotten? I needed some carbs to soak up the alcohol I was about to consume! ;)
