Beach Chalet

I've always wanted to try Beach Chalet, a restaurant located along Ocean Beach with gorgeous views of the ocean. I never heard much about the food, but always thought it'd be beautiful to enjoy a meal while gazing at the massive ocean.

The opportunity unexpected came when Wendy invited me to have brunch with her and her friends a few Saturdays ago.

Wendy and I split an order of Chalet beignets that came with an espresso and Baily's dipping sauce. It was so yummy. The perfect start to brunch.

I ordered French toast that was made with orange scented Polynesian bread. I didn't taste the orange and I'm not sure what Polynesian bread is, but it had the same texture as brioche. Fresh strawberries and over cooked bacon complimented my French toast. So so, nothing that special.

Wendy's choice of breakfast Monte Cristo sandwich was so good. It had ham, cheese, eggs; sandwiched in between the same bread as mine.

Although I was not able to gaze into the ocean as I took bites of my meal (I was facing the other way), I enjoyed the company and finally experiencing a well known San Franciscan establishment. Oh yes, and visiting one of Kevin Rose's favorite places. haha.

Frenchy

After an energizing spinning class, I met up with my friend Bruce for a late breakfast, early lunch. We went down to the Castro which I hardly visit (my radius is about 1 mile from where I live :P - lazy gene kicking in once again).

We didn’t have any place in mind, but landed at Caffe Luna Piena on Castro x 18th because the awning said “outdoor patio.” I love outdoor eating and it was the perfect day for it.

We walked through the main dining room and into the back that was filled with many plants, lights, fountains and heat lamps. We were pretty much in a converted back yard. It was adorable and I wish I knew more places like that.

I ordered french toast with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. I felt like I haven’t had a decadent french toast meal in awhile and this place seemed like the place to have it. I surprisingly (really? was it a surprise? :P) gobbled it all up and felt like a pig afterwards because Bruce only ordered a salad. hahaha. It was yummy though. I wouldn’t go all the way to the Castro for this, but it was definitely a cute atmosphere and good food.
